Audits
EnviroVet offers objective third party audits that are systematic and independent. We audit official control of food safety, animal health and welfare and feed hygiene as well as food sector operators. The EnviroVet audits are designed to improve and add value to the organization’s operations. The aim of the audits is to help organizations accomplish their objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
In our audits:
The guiding principles are ethicality, impartiality, legitimacy, competence, openness, transparency and evidence-based approach.
We use uniform guidance, practices and forms.
The auditors have long-term experience in food chain control and auditing.
The main auditors have the qualification for auditing given by the Finnish Food Safety Authority or the IIA and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor training.
The auditors are always independent and impartial. The impartiality of each auditor is evaluated case by case.
The audits provide comparable results nationally and in the EU.
The reporting of the results is uniform and transparent.
Audits of food production chain
EnviroVet also offers audits for the food production operators. The main focuses of these audits are the critical control points/areas of the production in question.
The target areas are:
- Legitimacy of the operation
- Food safety and quality policies
- End product safety
- In-house control systems and HACCP
- Personnel resources
The evaluation of the target areas is based on the qualitative and quantitative indicators and the results are presented individually for each target area. The ISO22000 standard is used in the evaluations alongside legislation.
Audits of the control chain
According to the Regulation (EC) No 882/2004 and EU Commission guidelines, the target areas of control that are required to be audited are:
- The effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy of official control
- The use of administrative coercive measures
- Personnel resources
Summaries and clear graphic results of the audits are published anonymously on the EnviroVet homepage. The results give a general view of the strengths and weaknesses of the control chain. The main focus of the audits is the preparative work and the analysis of the results done by our experts. The visit to the target unit is carried out in one working day and the process does not require significant input from the unit. The quality and efficiency of the audit procedures are guaranteed by using standardized methods. The results of the audit make it possible for the target organization to improve their operations markedly.
